Facilities

Underley Garden School is committed to offering the highest possible standards of care for all the young people in the Home. We aim to ensure that all the young people feel safe, comfortable and listened to when away from their home environment. To make certain that this happens all the young people live and work in small groups with good staffing levels.

The residential provision is set across two sites, the Garden Site and the Orchard Site. The Garden Site comprises of three residential units: Lomax House, Fell View and Peel House. Each of these units can accomodate up to eight young people, each divided between two self contained home areas. Many of the bedroom are ensuite. The Orchard Site boasts four self contained units: The Grove, Ryton Wood, Orchard House Left and Orchard House Right. Each of these can accommodate up to seven young people. All of these bedrooms are ensuite.

The school provision is also set across the Garden and Orchard Site, comprising of nine classrooms in total. The Post 16 educational provision is housed in a detached house on site.

Staffing

The majority of the staff are divided into three teams and each has a Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader. These three teams support the young people across the 24 hour curriculum working during the school day, evenings, weekends and holidays. Each residential unit has a 'Bungalow Senior' who is responsible for the care of the young people in their residential unit. In addition to these teams there is an additonal group of staff who are dedicated to supporting the learners during the school day. This comprises of the Principal, Deputy Head Teacher and Assistant Head Teacher with a commited group of Teachers, Instructors and Teaching Assistants.
